Perkins Coie , an international law firm, has officially announced the establishment of a representative office in Shenzhen.
Founded in 1912 and headquartered in Seattle, the firm has long served technology-driven enterprises and specializes in legal matters related to intellectual property, including patents and trademarks.
Since entering the Asian market, Perkins Coie has previously established branches in Beijing and Shanghai. Starting in 2024, the firm adjusted its business layout in China, closing its Shanghai and Beijing representative offices while announcing a strategic shift of its business focus to Shenzhen, a major technology hub and innovation center.
Perkins Coie's Shenzhen representative office was officially approved for establishment in January 2025. The office is co-led by Dr. Bing Ai, Chief Representative and Managing Partner, and Dr. Wei Yuan, Representative and Patent Litigation Partner. Both lawyers have interdisciplinary professional backgrounds and specialize in patent legal services.
In recent years, Shenzhen has accelerated the aggregation of specialized and sophisticated enterprises as well as technology innovation companies, leading to sustained growth in demand for intellectual property legal services. In addition to Perkins Coie, other foreign law firms such as Holman Fenwick Willan LLP, Bird & Bird LLP, and Pinsent Masons LLP have also successively set up representative offices in Shenzhen.
