It is reported that Beijing iQiyi Technology Co., Ltd. has published court announcements for cases concerning disputes over the infringement of the right of communication to the public on information networks against Shanghai Kuanyu Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Handled by the Beijing Internet Court, these cases were scheduled for hearing on March 23, 2021.
This marks the second copyright dispute between iQiyi and Bilibili. Back in 2018, iQiyi filed a lawsuit against Bilibili with Haidian Primary People's Court, alleging infringement of the right of communication to the public on information networks. The dispute arose from Bilibili’s unauthorized streaming of The Rap of China, a program for which iQiyi held the exclusive right of communication to the public on information networks. iQiyi demanded that Bilibili immediately cease the infringement and compensate RMB 1 million for economic losses and reasonable legal expenses. Ultimately, iQiyi was awarded a total compensation of RMB 53,500.
